Agriculture has been regarded as the bedrock of Nigeria’s economic growth and development. However, the sector’s development requires strategic interventions to address critical challenges and ensure sustained management practices
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) is partnering with the Nigerian government to address challenges in agriculture, focusing on improving staple crops and livestock sectors. Their efforts include scaling innovative technologies, fostering connections between small-scale producers and private-sector actors, and enhancing government and ecosystem capacities.
To support Nigeria’s food security efforts, BMGF is establishing a Project Management Office (PMO) under the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Agribusiness and Productivity Enhancement(SSAP-AgPE).
The Project will support the establishment of a Project Management Office (PMO) at the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Agribusiness and Productivity Enhancement (SSAP-AgPE) embedded with highly qualified personnel with diverse backgrounds in government, private industry, and consulting to advance sustainable agricultural development initiatives of the SSAP-AgPE and BMGF focused on critical-path crop/livestock VC priorities.
